Last weekend we drove to Tupelo for the Gum Tree Festival. It was a very short trip – we left Atlanta Friday around 12:30 and were back in Atlanta by 8:30 Saturday night.
Here are pictures from Friday's lunch at Sonic. SF ate two extra long chili cheese dogs without the chili, cheese, or bread, MC ate some of her corn dog, and EA had baby food (but I didn't record that with a picture).
We try to go to the Gum Tree Festival every year. They have a road race and an arts and crafts festival. This year the road race was a family affair. Chad ran the 10K while MC and I (I pushed SF and EA) participated in the 2K Fun Run. This was MC’s first road race, and we were a little concerned that she wouldn’t be able to run / walk without getting tired / whiney, but she ran the entire race, and I had to run a couple of times to keep up with her.

During the race -
After the race -
They had outdoor showers set up to cool off after the race. Watch this video of MC working up the nerve to run through.
Here's a picture of the train that goes through Tupelo that we saw while waiting for Daddy to finish. This was very exciting for everyone. I don't think we have seen a train that close before, and it was a little too close for me!
Group hug after the race.
SF eating an apple for the first time without having it cut up for her - if she would only do this at home!
After the race, we went to the festival to search for face painting. There were no face painters, but we found sand art and pottery. We ate lunch at the festival – almost $50 worth of junk. We ate near the musician’s stage and were entertained by Partlow’s Drummers.
SF fell asleep in the car on the way back to Grammy’s house. We laid her in our bed while everyone took showers and slept. SF didn’t wake up until we put her in the car to head back to Atlanta.
B ye Bye to Grammy and GiGi
We stopped at Cracker Barrel for dinner on the East side of Birmingham. It was all downhill after that. EA cried off and on for the first hour after dinner, and then cried the entire 2nd hour home. Wait – I was wrong. EA stopped when we got on I - 285 – 10 minutes before arriving home! MC and I tried our best to entertain her, but we eventually gave up - at least we didn't get stuck in traffic!
