Left Out Sarah Frances

It’s getting harder to exclude Sarah Frances in the activities that MC participates in. Last night Chad was working late, and I was outside with all 3 girls chatting with some of our neighbors. Natalie wanted MC to come over and play for 10 minutes before bath time. The girls were so excited when I agreed, and before I knew it, Natalie, MC, and Sarah Frances were all running over to Natalie’s house. All three were screaming shouts of joy as I started yelling, “Come back here Sarah Frances. You’re going inside with me.” Sarah Frances didn’t really want to do that (I think she told me “NO”), and then Natalie’s mother said Sarah Frances was welcome to come, too. Sarah Frances adores Natalie, while Natalie wants to play with MC.

Chad bought tickets for the Tennessee Basketball game today for MC and himself. Last night he realized that he should have bought three tickets. He feels REALLY bad, but neither one of us thought about taking Sarah Frances. He bought good seats so we didn’t think he could just buy another ticket and take Sarah Frances to sit with them. Today, Sarah Frances puts her cheerleading outfit on with MC. She was so excited and even MC thought Sarah Frances was going. When MC realized that Sarah Frances was not going to the game, MC said, “That’s ok, Sarah Frances. You get to go to the next game.” I thought that was really sweet of MC to say. As Chad and MC were leaving, Sarah Frances ran to put her UT crocs on, and we had to once again tell her that she was staying home with Mommy. She didn’t care, and she has no idea what she’s missing, but Chad feels awful for not including her. We keep reminding Sarah Frances that we are going to see Horton Hears a Who tomorrow, and she is very excited about that. She’s a movie fanatic!

Sarah Frances has been with me twice lately while buying clothes for MC. The first time, the entire family was at Carter’s. Chad was playing with the girls at the Lego table while I was picking out clothes with MC. Chad came over and told me that I was going to have to buy something for Sarah Frances, too even though she has plenty of hand me down clothes. When Grammy was shopping for them at Target, Sarah Frances wanted a shirt because MC was getting a shirt and a skirt. We found a yellow shirt for Sarah Frances, and she was happy.
It is hard watching Sarah Frances get left out, but she doesn’t care (and Chad and I don’t care, either). She loves to play by herself or just watch the other kids play. She likes going to the park while MC goes to her swim lessons, she loves playing in the car waiting for MC to finish her gymnastics’s lesson, and she loves her hand me down clothes. Most of all, she loves her big sister Mary Catherine!
